What We Do

What I Do

Annemarie is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist
Helping people realise their wholeness

Will it suit Me?

Meeting with a psychologist can feel a bit strange at first. What will people think about me? What do I think about me?
Don't let your concerns stop you from wanting the best for yourself and your relationships. That may or may not be seeing someone like Annemarie - but it definitely starts with actively changing the way things are right now.

Change happens to us all: sometimes it is planned, sometimes it startles us when we least expect it. Many people begin a therapeutic process for one reason and find themselves exploring other avenues altogether as they start to unpack how they feel. Others want to deal with a specific trigger or newly-introduced stressor - and some people are interested in managing long-term issues that can feel overwhelming and isolating when we try to deal with them on our own.

Whatever your reasons are, you've already made a positive start by looking for a solution on this site.

And I would love to help you find the right way forward.

Adults

Most adults choose for themselves which psychologist they would like to see. Oftentimes, we base this on the practitioner's qualifications or niche areas of specialisation. As important as these factors are, we find that relational chemistry and mutual "clicking" can speed up and strengthen a therapeutic process. That is why the first appointment is so important. While Annemarie has extensive experience with a vast range of patients, her most common appointments cover some of the following:

Depression
Anxiety Panic
Work-related stress
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Interpersonal difficulties (including marital)
Trauma  Abuse   Grief Infertility      PTSD
SELF REGULATION
Gender Identity
Bereavement & Loss

Life Transitions
(separation, career change, unexpected traumas)
Setting Attainable Personal Goals

Who Am I?

Thank you for spending time on this website and doing your research - I hope it's been helpful. I'd like to share a little bit about myself so you can get to know me better.

My name is Annemarie Leuvennink and I was born in South Africa, where I completed my training. I had the privilege of working in a wide range of settings with individuals from vibrant and diverse backgrounds. I love the complexity of the work that I do - and if I had the chance to choose again, I would still choose to be a Psychologist.
I’m clinically trained, which means I am able to diagnose and treat, therapeutically, clinical disorders. This is also due to my practical training in a psychiatric hospital.

I work from a Psychodynamic understanding of clients and use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Mindfulness Based Therapy where appropriate.

One of my key treatment skills is my ability to assess clients and to provide feedback on the most appropriate interventions to suit their specific needs (which may even include a referral to another professional if that’s the best option for them!)

In 2016, I moved to the UK to settle in the Surrey Hills with my family. I love living in the country, where I can cycle over weekends and enjoy the odd Country Fair - but where London is still accessible. I have a successful digital practice which operates globally, while still being able to see clients in person at my consultation rooms.

In my spare time I relax by working in the garden (I find the British soil very forgiving!) and enjoy a good barbecue. I’m happiest in or near water and love the sea and mountains.

I hope to meet you soon.
